University of Applied Sciences Northwestern Switzerland

The University of Applied Sciences Northwestern Switzerland (UNW) is a state university.

There are currently nine Schools or Academies (Applied Psychology, Business, Architecture & Construction, Social Work,  Art & Design, Music, Teacher Training Seminars).  In 2007 the academic year started with over 7'000 undergraduate registrations.

Applied Research & Development activity is covered by 56 institutes affliated to one of the schools.  Institute lecturers and staff maintain close proximity to industry and business and offer consultancy services in their specialised fields.

The UNW is a national leader in internationalisation − it was for many years the only state institution to offer Bachelor programmes taught entirely in English.  It is the most active Swiss UAS in student exchange, has a reputable and unique tri-national bachelor programme, and the Business School alone maintains over 120 academic partnerships with universities all over the world. The BusinessSchool runs a number of joint degrees at Bachelor and Master level with partner universities in England, Austria, Vietnam, China and Germany.

Switzerland has long successfully exported and marketed its banks and insurers, its watches and medical technology, its social mediation and the Red Cross. Within a century, Switzerland evolved from one of the poorest countries in Europe to one of the most affluent in the world.

At our School of Business we educate and support, encourage and interact, advise and challenge the potential and current managers, economists and marketers  to  continue in this prosperous Swiss tradition.  Equally, we practise and instill an integral sense of professional ethics and social responsibility.
